Sanaa: Shura Council, chaired by Mohammed al-Aidarous, held on Monday a joint meeting to review the state of the educational process across all school levels and the achievements of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in maintaining continuity of learning. The meeting, attended by members of the Education Committee and senior ministry officials, discussed the challenges facing the sector and possible solutions.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Aidarous praised the ministry and teaching staff for keeping schools and universities operating despite difficult conditions, stressing the Council's commitment to offering guidance to improve education quality. Officials highlighted the need for stronger coordination, a comprehensive school development plan, teacher training, building repairs, and curriculum updates. The Deputy Minister presented key obstacles-especially teacher salaries-and outlined ongoing initiatives, including the planned Teacher Licensing Project.
In a separate session, the Education Committee held its second consultative meeting with ministry leaders to prepare a joint report on students' declining enrollment in certain specializations, particularly education colleges. A joint team was formed to gather data, conduct field visits, and draft the report.
