Al-Bayda: The Local Water and Sanitation Corporation in Al-Bayda Province, alongside the Social Fund for Development (SFD), Dhamar-Bayda branch, has successfully signed the tender documents for the establishment of a centralized solar water production plant for Al-Bayda city.
According to Yemen News Agency, Abdul Ghani Al-Mukhtar, Director General of the Corporation, stated that the tender signing follows essential amendments made by experts from the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation and the Social Fund for Development. These amendments were informed by previous studies and observations from water projects in other regions, such as Dhamar province and Rada'a city.
The project aims to ensure the continuous production of electricity through half a megawatt of alternative energy. This initiative is expected to ease the challenges faced by citizens in accessing clean drinking water while simultaneously reducing production costs.
Engineer Khalid Al-Kharbi, a specialist at the Water Corporation in Al-Bayda province, provided insights into the strategic selection of locations for dams, rain and climate monitoring stations, and other vital sites. These locations are deemed optimal for sourcing water and managing watersheds, both presently and for future needs, to secure water supply for the residents of Al-Bayda city.
