Social Affairs Minister Explores Disability Support Initiatives with Handicap Director

Sana'a: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Samir Baja'alah met with Handicap Country Director in Yemen, Reshma Azmi, to discuss collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing support for people with disabilities. The dialogue included the establishment of a potential treatment center in Ibb, which would serve four provinces, the ongoing support for physiotherapy centers in Hodeida province, the completion of a health center in Hajjah, and the provision of supplies for a planned physiotherapy center in Sana'a.

According to Yemen News Agency, Minister Baja'alah highlighted the importance of expanding services for individuals with disabilities through economic empowerment and referral systems. He commended Handicap's previous contributions and stressed the urgency of addressing the increased needs of this community in light of the ongoing conflict. The Minister underscored the necessity of strengthening partnerships, coordinating with the Disabled Care and Rehabilitation Fund, and mobilizing grants to support these initiatives.

Reshma Azmi reaffirmed Handicap's dedication to delivering more projects and mobilizing necessary resources to support initiatives focused on disability care and empowerment.
