Sana'a: The South Sana'a Appeals Prosecution has sanctioned the release of 256 prisoners in anticipation of the Holy Month of Ramadan, following directives from the local leadership and the Attorney General.

According to Yemen News Agency, Judge Ahmed al-Qeez, the Chief of the South Sana'a Appeals Prosecution, outlined the categories of those released. Among them, 131 prisoners were released on bail, pending further investigation or trial. Additionally, 57 prisoners were granted amnesty for the remainder of their sentences, and 68 were released following the completion of their judicial rulings.

This decision was reached after a thorough two-week inspection of the Central Reformatory, reserve prisons, and police detention centers. During this period, judges reviewed prisoner complaints and verified them against official records and deposit logs to ensure all eligible individuals were included in the amnesty.

Judge al-Qeez emphasized the prosecution's commitment to ongoing reviews of prisoner files to uphold both legal and human rights. He noted that pardons are granted to those who have demonstrated good conduct, particularly in non-serious cases that do not pose a threat to society. Al-Qeez further encouraged the released individuals to seize this opportunity to reintegrate as productive members of the community, highlighting that this gesture embodies the values of tolerance and mercy associated with Ramadan.
