Al-taiziyah: The Office of Youth and Sports in Taiz Governorate organized on Tuesday the 'Great Messenger' race for athletes and youth from Al-Taiziyah and Salah districts, in coordination with the Education Sector in the governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, the race brought together 500 athletes and young participants from various clubs and schools in the two districts. It started from the Oil Company and concluded at Al-Rasul Al-A'zam Square, as part of the celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family.
The launch was attended by Deputy Governor Muhammad Al-Husseini and Director of Salah District Muhammad Al-Hashmah. During the event, Director of the Office of Youth and Sports, Saeed Al-Sanafi, and Head of the Education Sector, Abduljalil Al-Sam'i, highlighted that organizing the race is part of the activities accompanying the celebrations of the Prophet's birth, with coordination from the Traffic Police to secure the race route.
They affirmed that the race witnessed enthusiastic participation from the athletes amidst widespread public support and encouragement, reflecting the people's love, loyalty, and reverence for the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his family, as well as the profound significance of this occasion in the hearts of Yemenis.
Al-Sanafi and Al-Sam'i further emphasized that the joyful manifestations of the Prophet's birthday express sincere faith, reverence, and honor for the noble Prophet, peace be upon him. They considered the race as the starting point for a series of sporting, cultural, and religious events to be held in the governorate throughout the days of the Mawlid celebration.
At the conclusion of the race, which was attended by leaders from the Office of Youth and Sports, the Education Sector, and Al-Tali'ah Sports Club, cups and medals were awarded to the top ten winners.
