Sana'a: The Public Works Department in Hamdan District, Sana'a Governorate, carried out the surveying, leveling, and clearing of several streets through a community initiative.
According to Yemen News Agency, the district director, Fahd Attiya, explained that the community contributed to the project by providing 70% of the fuel and 30% of the labor, as well as supplying the equipment, including bulldozers, graders, and drivers. The work continued for three days in various areas and neighborhoods. He emphasized the importance of making giving a deeply rooted value and an ongoing practice through simple acts that have an impact on strengthening the values of solidarity and social cohesion.
Attiya praised the efforts of those who worked on the project, considering the encouragement of voluntary initiatives a crucial priority in implementing the national vision for building a modern state. Hamdan Public Works Director, Engineer Abed Shayea, explained that surveying and leveling work was completed on a 200-meter-long, 16-meter-wide street in Neighborhood Unit 675 in the Al-Sawda Shamlan area. He added that surveying, leveling, and the creation of drainage levels for rainwater and floodwater were also completed on a 110-meter-long, 14-meter-wide street in the same neighborhood.
Shayea noted that a 250-meter-long, 20-meter-wide street was surveyed and leveled in the Al-Mahjar Al-A'la area of Dhala', and a 350-meter-long, 24-meter-wide street was opened, surveyed, and leveled in Neighborhood Unit 574 in the Harat Zainab Al-Jari'a area. He also mentioned the removal of debris and dirt from both sides of the main roads (Sana'a-Al-Mahwit and Sana'a-Amran).
Shayea emphasized the commitment to supporting community initiatives in various neighborhoods of the district, explaining that the sector supports these initiatives by providing the necessary equipment for opening, surveying, and leveling roads. He praised the efforts of the district's residents and their commitment to implementing initiatives, considering the encouragement of voluntary initiatives a priority for the Ministry of Public Works, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of citizens.
