Taiz Chamber of Commerce Condemns Destruction of Chemico Factory by Saudi Airstrikes

Taiz:The Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Taiz governorate has condemned the targeting of the "Chemico" paint and chemicals factory by Saudi air forces. The airstrike destroyed all facilities of this vital establishment, rendering it inoperable and demolishing its infrastructure.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Chamber of Commerce emphasized that industrial and commercial sectors are purely civilian and economic assets that contribute to the resilience of society amidst the ongoing blockade imposed on Yemen.

The Chamber explained that the destruction of this facility is an attack on national investment, pushing hundreds of workers and their families into unemployment and depriving them of their sole source of livelihood. It reiterated its call for the protection of economic assets, urging that industrial and commercial facilities—which serve as a lifeline and provide employment opportunities—be spared from such attacks.

The statement further noted that targeting this facility constitutes a crime aimed at causing severe environmental damage, threatening the health and safety of citizens and the broader environment. The Chamber called upon all international and UN-affiliated organizations, as well as relevant authorities, to fulfill their moral and humanitarian responsibilities by taking serious action to protect civilian and economic facilities and halt all operations that target economic infrastructure and the livelihoods of the population.
