Taiz: A meeting held on Wednesday in Taiz Governorate, chaired by the Deputy Governor for Development Affairs, Abdulwasea Al-Shamsi, discussed the plan for agricultural initiatives and projects for the year 1447 AH, as well as mechanisms for implementing the National Initiative for Date Seed Cultivation and Seedling Production.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting also reviewed efforts to activate cooperative associations and 'Knights of Development' in organizing Ramadan gatherings at the district level. The meeting was attended by several key officials, including the Governorate's Agricultural Sector Official Eng. Abdullah Al-Jundi, Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office Majed Al-Barkani, Head of the Funding Unit Hussein Al-Rashdi, Director of Sharab Al-Rawneh District Osama Al-Qatabari, and Head of the Cooperative Union branch Majed Al-Athwari. The participants reviewed the local authority's agricultural project plan.
Discussions also covered follow-up on completing the first phase of the project to form production groups for cheese producers in Maqbanah. Additionally, they talked about launching a dairy project through Al-Ta'iziyah Cooperative Association and finalizing procedures to finance loans for veterinary clinics and agricultural service centers affiliated with associations, as outlined in the 1447 AH agricultural sector plan.
The meeting addressed aspects related to conducting an agricultural survey covering 12 crops across six districts and establishing agricultural markets in Maqbanah and Khadeer districts. It emphasized the importance of raising community awareness about the National Community Initiative for Date Seed Cultivation and Seedling Production by strengthening the role of associations and 'Knights of Development' in awareness activities. The meeting also suggested presenting radio programs to explain the campaign's implementation mechanisms and its role in boosting the national economy and reducing the import bill.
Further, the meeting stressed the importance of strengthening the role of cooperative associations and 'Knights of Development' in organizing and activating Ramadan councils at the district level.
