Taiz Human Rights Authority Condemns Attacks on Civilians

Taiz:The Taiz branch of the National Human Rights Authority has condemned airstrikes and attacks by Saudi forces on populated areas and civilian objects across the governorate, resulting in civilian casualties.

According to Yemen News Agency, the authority's statement detailed three airstrikes on Monday that targeted Al-Zahra School and the health center in Al-Qahaf village, Jabal Habashi district. These strikes resulted in the deaths of three people, including a child, and injuries to 12 others.

The statement further explained that additional schools and the main road connecting Jabal Habashi district to Al-Turbah were also targeted, disrupting civilian movement and access to essential services. In Al-Mukhaaf village, Al-Masrakh district, shelling killed a child and injured his mother. A missile attack in Al-Sharafi village, Saber Al-Mawadem district, killed a girl and injured an elderly man.

The human rights authority emphasized that such attacks on civilians, schools, health facilities, and civilian objects represent serious violations of international humanitarian law. It held Saudi Arabia legally and criminally responsible for these actions and urged the United Nations, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and local and international organizations to document these violations, halt the attacks, and hold the perpetrators accountable.

The authority also called for urgent protection of civilians and an end to airstrikes and missile attacks on populated areas, schools, and health centers.
