Taiz:The Taiz Network for Rights and Freedoms has condemned the ongoing siege by Saudi-backed mercenaries on the city of Taiz, highlighting the closure of critical routes such as the Al-Hawban Roundabout-Al-Qasr Roundabout-City Center road. This closure, coupled with targeted airstrikes, aims to disrupt traffic and cut off essential supplies and services to civilians.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Network expressed strong condemnation of recent developments, particularly warnings issued by mercenaries that designate public roads as unsafe for civilians, thereby making them military targets. The Network described this as a war crime, exploiting the humanitarian crisis faced by residents and violating legal protections for civilians.
The statement also criticized the blockage of main roads and their conversion into military targets, which it claimed is a violation of international humanitarian and human rights laws. The Network emphasized that such actions endanger the means of survival and deny safe passage for vulnerable groups like patients, students, and families.
Furthermore, the Network held the "aggression coalition" and its proxies accountable for the blockade and threats, urging them to cease all hostilities. It called on the United Nations and international bodies to condemn these violations and exert pressure to lift the siege on Taiz and protect civilians and their routes from systematic targeting.
