Sana'a: The Health Care Association for Affected Communities is set to launch its 66th free eye surgery camp at the General Military Hospital in the Taiziyah District of Taiz Governorate next Saturday. The initiative is aimed at providing essential eye care services to those in need.
According to Yemen News Agency, the camp will be held from 10 to 15 Muharram and is funded by the General Authority for Zakat in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Environment. It aims to offer examination services and perform 200 surgeries, including procedures for cataracts, pterygium, and eyelid cysts.
Hassan Tamah, head of the Health Committee at the General Authority for Zakat, highlighted the Authority's dedication to funding medical camps to ease the suffering of citizens, assist the needy, and address needs in remote areas that lack access to services.
In addition, Dr. Nashwan Al-Attab, head of the Health Care Association, explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the free camp is part of a series of camps organized by the association under its solidarity projects. These efforts reflect the principles of Islam, focusing on caring for the poor and engaging in charitable deeds.
Dr. Al-Attab noted that during the first three days of the camp, which will be conducted in collaboration with the governorate's health office, screenings and examinations will take place. This will help identify cases that require surgical intervention and ensure they undergo necessary pre-operative tests.
Dr. Al-Attab also praised the Zakat Authority's support in facilitating the camp, which aims to relieve the citizens' hardships amid the challenging circumstances the country faces.
