Taiz Zakat Office Implements Projects Worth Over One Billion Riyals in 2025 and 2026

Sana'a: The Taiz branch of the General Authority for Zakat has successfully executed a series of humanitarian and development projects amounting to 1,469,862,000 riyals. These projects have benefited a total of 38,643 individuals during 2025 and the first half of 2026.

According to Yemen News Agency, a comprehensive report from the Authority's office reveals that in 2025 alone, various interventions including cash, in-kind, medical, and social assistance were implemented at a total cost of 654,921,717 riyals, benefiting 14,066 people. Among these, medical and therapeutic aid was prioritized, with 274,642,433 riyals allocated to support 2,433 cases. The report also highlights the sponsorship project for those unable to work, which allocated 124,960,000 riyals to assist 6,248 individuals. Additionally, 95,200,000 riyals were distributed as individual financial assistance to 4,489 critical cases, and 119,053,834 riyals were used to aid debtors, benefiting 287 individuals.

The report further details expenditures for 2025 that included community initiatives such as rainwater harvesting projects, costing 20 million riyals, and 12 million riyals disbursed to the Ibn al-Sabil Fund assistance project. Additional projects included the Eid al-Adha sacrifice initiative for prison inmates, costing 4,500,000 riyals, and the revival of Friday prayer in Rajab at the Mu'adh ibn Jabal Mosque, with a budget of 4,565,450 riyals. The in-kind assistance program distributed 609 complete food baskets and 2,169 cups of grain to 2,252 citizens.

The pace of humanitarian aid significantly increased in the first half of 2026, with expenditures reaching 814,941,000 riyals, benefiting 24,577 individuals. The project supporting those unable to work received the largest share, with 304,800,000 riyals allocated for 5,080 beneficiaries. The Zakat al-Fitr project followed, with 236,340,000 riyals benefiting 11,817 people. Emergency cash and in-kind assistance amounted to 166,420,000 riyals for 1,431 beneficiaries, while individual assistance for critical cases totaled 33,178,000 riyals for 1,565 individuals. Emergency cash assistance of 31,020,000 riyals was distributed to 1,551 individuals.

Further projects in the first half of 2026 included securing the release of 113 debtors with 30,920,000 riyals, aiding stranded travelers through the Ibn Al-Sabil Fund with seven million riyals, providing a Friday dinner at the Mu'adh ibn Jabal Mosque for 1,500 beneficiaries, and distributing sacrificial meat to 800 prison inmates. Additionally, 720 food baskets were delivered to the neediest families as part of the tenth phase of the in-kind assistance project.

The report emphasized that these initiatives are part of the General Authority for Zakat's commitment to accurately and transparently delivering zakat funds to rightful recipients, thereby fostering social solidarity and alleviating the hardships of impoverished families across the governorate.
