Taiz: Preparatory activities for commemorating the Prophet Muhammad's Birthday (Mawlid) for the year 1448 AH were launched on Saturday in Al-Selw and Sami' districts of Taiz governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, at the launch ceremony in Al-Selw district, Province Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs Mohammed Al-Husseini described the occasion as an opportunity to draw inspiration from the Prophet's values, strengthen religious identity, and promote social solidarity and national unity. He emphasized that the commemoration has evolved beyond a traditional religious observance into a broad community event reflecting the people's attachment to the Prophet Muhammad, noting that Taiz has long maintained a tradition of marking the occasion.
During the event, attended by local officials, organizers reviewed preparations for the district's commemorative program, which includes decorating public buildings and streets, organizing awareness activities, cultural seminars, and community gatherings across villages and sub-districts. Local officials stressed the importance of implementing the planned activities and ensuring broad participation in the celebrations.
Later, Al-Husseini also inaugurated preparatory activities for the Prophet's Birthday in Sami' district, where speakers reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the celebration program and called on the public to participate in the events while promoting social solidarity and charitable initiatives benefiting poor families, orphans, and widows.
