Tax and Customs Authority Issues Over 146,000 Tax Exemption Certificates to Small Taxpayers

Sana'a: The Tax and Customs Authority has issued a total of 146,697 tax exemption certificates to owners of small and micro-enterprises and small property taxpayers since the implementation of Law No. 8 of 2020 up until June 30, 2026.

According to Yemen News Agency, Acting Head of the Authority, Dr. Ibrahim Mahdi, stated that 100,041 exemption certificates were issued to owners of small and micro-enterprises, while 46,656 certificates were issued to small property taxpayers. He emphasized the ongoing work at the Tax Authority branches in the capital and governorates to process tax returns and issue exemption certificates to eligible taxpayers. These procedures ensure that small taxpayers receive their exemption certificates at no cost.

Dr. Mahdi noted the accomplishments in exemptions and the efforts at the governorate level. In the capital, a total of 60,103 exemption certificates have been issued to small and micro-enterprise owners and small property taxpayers. The numbers in Taiz Governorate stand at 5,821, in Hodeidah 20,319, in Ibb 18,695, in Dhamar 8,515, in Hajjah 3,942, in Saada 1,593, and in Sana'a 9,459.

The number of tax exemption certificates issued in Al-Bayda Governorate reached 5,516, in Al-Mahwit Governorate 3,916, in Al-Jawf Governorate 652, in Amran Governorate 6,635, and in Raymah Governorate 1,531.

Law No. 8 of 2020 specifies exemptions for small and micro-enterprises with an annual turnover and total annual sales or revenue not exceeding 20 million riyals, as well as for small property taxpayers with monthly rental income not exceeding 50,000 riyals.

The Acting Head of the Tax and Customs Authority remarked that tax exemptions are part of the economic measures aligned with the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council to support citizens amidst the ongoing impacts of aggression and blockade. He reiterated the Authority's commitment to facilitating easy and convenient access to tax exemption certificates for citizens.
