Sana'a: Director of the Health and Environment Office in Sa'ada governorate Dr. Yahya Shayem and Director of the Central Laboratory in the governorate Dr. Adel Muawad inaugurated the Tissue and Cytology Unit at the Central Laboratory in the governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, the unit was built at a cost of $80,000 and was jointly funded and supported by the Central Laboratory in Sana'a and the Health Office in the governorate. The new facility is set to enhance services in cancer diagnosis and other laboratory practices.
The Director of the Health Office and his deputy, Dr. Khaled al-Farah, were given an overview by the Director of the Central Laboratory in the governorate. They learned about the services offered by the unit, which includes state-of-the-art equipment and medical technologies, making it a pioneering facility in the governorate and surrounding areas.
Dr. Shayem highlighted the significance of the unit's opening, describing it as a leap in diagnostic capabilities. Equipped with the latest medical devices and technologies, the unit will enable precise and speedy testing of tissue samples. This development is expected to improve the accuracy of comprehensive tests and assist doctors in crafting precise treatment plans swiftly.
He acknowledged the contributions of the Ministry of Health leadership, the directors of the central laboratory in Sana'a and the governorate, and the laboratory staff, emphasizing their vital role in the establishment of the service.
The director of the Sa'dah Health Office stated that the new unit will serve the local population, reducing the need for travel to Sana'a. As a specialized tissue unit for detecting cancerous tumors, it will also provide additional laboratory services to the community.
