Sana'a: The Traffic Police launched on Monday an additional field deployment plan for traffic control teams, supported by medical and ambulance services, along the main inter-provincial highways, coinciding with the approach of Eid al-Adha.
According to Yemen News Agency, Director General of the Traffic Police, Major General Dr. Bakeel Al-Barashi, explained that the deployment comes in implementation of the Interior Ministry leadership's directives, within the framework of the Traffic Police development matrix and its strategy aimed at enhancing road safety, reducing accidents, and securing citizens' movement.
He stated that the plan aims to provide rapid and integrated response services for users of long-distance roads witnessing heavy traffic and increased travel movement as citizens head to various provinces to spend the Eid holiday.
Dr. Al-Barashi noted that this year's deployment plan is distinguished by its quality, as highway traffic teams have been equipped with ambulances affiliated with the Yemeni Red Crescent, fully supplied with emergency medicines, safety tools, and necessary medical equipment for accident victims before their transfer to hospitals.
He added that specialized medical teams from the Red Crescent have also been deployed and are qualified to handle medical emergencies around the clock on inter-provincial highways.
The Traffic Police director affirmed that traffic control teams and medical crews will work side by side with highway traffic service centers deployed along major roads, forming an integrated safety network that will ensure rapid intervention in any emergency threatening traffic flow or travelers' lives.
He pointed out that the Traffic Police seeks to transform long-distance roads into safer routes and minimize accident response time, especially during these blessed days that witness heavy travel and road congestion.
Major General Al-Barashi directed all officers and personnel deployed in the field to maintain maximum readiness, deal responsibly and respectfully with citizens, travelers, and provide assistance and support with a humanitarian spirit.
During the event, attended by Deputy Director of the Yemeni Red Crescent Association Abdullah Al-Suloul, Director of Traffic Police in the Capital Secretariat Brigadier Najeeb Al-Asadi, and several traffic officials, the Traffic Police urged drivers and travelers to fully adhere to traffic regulations, respect speed limits, and inspect their vehicles before traveling in order to ensure safety and avoid accidents.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Police also launched its comprehensive Eid al-Adha traffic awareness campaign under the slogan: 'Your Safety is Our Goal.'
The campaign aims to raise traffic awareness among drivers and travelers and encourage defensive driving to avoid risks on highways and inside cities during the Eid holiday.
The campaign includes the distribution of intensive awareness and media materials, as well as guidance leaflets for drivers on streets and highways containing road safety tips and instructions. It also features visual and digital productions, including a series of short awareness videos and guidance designs.
Director of Public Relations at the Traffic Police, Lieutenant Colonel Nabil Al-Mughallis, explained that traffic awareness is a key pillar in preventing accidents, and that the slogan 'Your Safety is Our Goal' reflects the Traffic Police's efforts to make awareness an essential partner for drivers throughout their journeys.
