Capital secretariat: A training workshop on preparing strategic, integrated, and participatory development plans was launched on Tuesday in the Capital Secretariat. The workshop is organized by the Planning and General Administration of Development Research and Training at the Secretariat.
According to Yemen News Agency, the two-day workshop brings together members of the administrative bodies of the Capital Secretariat and its districts. It aims to correct misconceptions about development work among leadership and administrative staff, shifting from a routine work model to a comprehensive, integrated approach focused on sustainable development.
The workshop was attended by the Chairpersons of the Planning and Services Committees of the Secretariat, Sharaf Al-Hadi and Adel Al-Aqari. Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, Chairperson of the Social Affairs Committee and Deputy Head of the Development Team, highlighted the critical role of local authorities and the executive office in preparing future plans. He emphasized the importance of addressing shortcomings, identifying available resources when drafting plans and strategies, and developing plans based on a clear set of priorities, as well as seeking alternative funding sources for projects.
Al-Naqeeb called for mobilizing community capabilities to achieve broad-based development and transform the challenges of aggression into opportunities and projects. He affirmed that the upcoming phase would be more ambitious and participatory, involving both the community and the private sector.
During the workshop, Mazen Nu’man, Deputy Secretary for the Financial Sector and Resource Development, participated alongside Dr. Abdulwahab Sharaf Al-Din, Head of the Planning Sector, who outlined the workshop’s objectives. These include preparing a shared, participatory three-year community plan, defining visions and priorities, leveraging strengths, and enhancing them, with a particular focus on the community-based economy.
The workshop also reviewed the integrated development work model in its social, organizational, and economic dimensions, as well as national programs related to development work. Dr. Sharaf Al-Din stressed the necessity of mobilizing the community and involving all segments in both the preparation and implementation of development plans.
