Khartoum: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Dr. Nuwara Abu-Mohamed Tahir, affirmed the State's commitment to women and to strengthening their role and empowerment in serving both society and the nation. During her meeting with the Women's Development Mechanism in Eastern Sudan, chaired by the Secretary-General of the Mechanism, Huda Mohamed Omar, Dr. Nuwara was briefed on the ideas, visions, plans, programs, and projects being implemented by the Mechanism. According to Sudan News Agency, the Secretary-General of the Women's Development Mechanism in Eastern Sudan explained that the meeting touched on programs, issues, concerns, and projects of relevance to women in Eastern Sudan, foremost among them the issue of education, healthcare, and creating employment opportunities for women. Meanwhile, Abeer Salah from the Council of Persons with Disabilities noted that the meeting also discussed empowering women in Eastern Sudan to contribute to advancing the course of women's work in development al, service, and economic fields.
