Turkey: Turkey on Tuesday strongly condemned the Houthi attacks in Yemen targeting Saudi Arabia, affirming its support for the Kingdom's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a statement denouncing the attacks, emphasizing the threat they pose to civilian lives and the escalation of regional tensions.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the ministry highlighted that the attacks undermine diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the conflict in Yemen through a lasting political solution. Turkey called on the Houthis to cease hostilities promptly.
Earlier, the Saudi Foreign Ministry reported that 73 civilians, including women and children, were injured due to Houthi attacks targeting civilian and economic sites in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran. The ministry detailed that the assaults triggered fires and led to a temporary shutdown of energy sector facilities.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry also noted the Houthis' continued targeting of commercial vessels in the Red Sea, posing a threat to international maritime navigation. It reiterated its rejection of the hostile actions by the Houthi militia, which threaten the security and stability of the region and dismiss peace efforts. The Kingdom affirmed its right to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens and national assets in line with international law.
Furthermore, the Saudi Ministry of Energy disclosed that a number of energy sector facilities in the southern region were targeted on Tuesday morning. A ministry official stated that the attacks caused fires at several sites, resulting in a temporary halt in some operations. The attacks also led to injuries of varying severity among citizens and residents, with medical care being provided as assessment and follow-up work continues.
