Taiz:Two earthquakes were recorded on Sunday, one west of the Gulf of Aden and another in the Hayfan area of Taiz Governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Seismology and Volcanology Monitoring and Study Center reported that a light tremor measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale occurred west of the Gulf of Aden at 8:36 a.m., at a depth of 10 km. Later, another tremor measuring 2.8 at the same depth was recorded in Hayfan, Taiz, at 3:08 p.m.
Additionally, the center's stations detected a 5.4-magnitude earthquake east of the Gulf of Aden the previous evening. Center Director Engineer Mohammed Al-Houthi explained that the light seismic activity observed in parts of Yemen is due to accumulated stress in the Earth's crust, seismic activity along the African Plate, and the ongoing spreading of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
