Hajjah: Two cultural seminars were held on Thursday in the districts of Mabyan and al-Shahil in Hajjah governorate, focusing on the role of the Yemeni people in supporting the Palestinian cause amid ongoing regional developments.
According to Yemen News Agency, the seminars, titled 'The Role of Yemenis in Supporting the Palestinian Cause,' were attended by Member of Parliament Mahmoud al-Harab, Hajjah governorate Mobilization Official Hamoud al-Maghribi, and Province undersecretary Zaid al-Hakim and Adel Farhan.
Palestinian thinker and researcher Dr. Abdullah al-Buhaisi addressed the events, highlighting Yemen's historical and contemporary stance in support of Palestine and other oppressed peoples. He said Yemenis have consistently rejected injustice and oppression and have maintained their support for Gaza despite the severe conditions Yemen faces under years of blockade and aggression.
Dr. Al-Buhaisi attributed the prolonged conflict and siege against Yemen to its people's refusal of foreign domination and their insistence on sovereignty and dignity, rooted in adherence to the Holy Qur'an.
He reviewed Yemen's support operations for Gaza, noting their escalation from selective targeting of Israeli-linked vessels to an almost comprehensive blockade of ships heading to ports in the occupied territories, as well as strikes deep inside Israel. He said these actions caused economic losses and heightened security concerns.
The speaker also recalled that prior to October 7, 2023, Yemen had not been expected to play a direct support role. He noted that the Palestinian resistance was surprised by Yemen's stance and by the declaration of its leader, Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi, stating, 'You are not alone.'
The seminars concluded with remarks by local and social figures from Mabyan, al-Shahil, and Qafl Shamar districts, reaffirming continued support for the Palestinian people, stressing preparedness for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, and honoring students from the 'Generation of the Qur'an' program in Mabyan.
