Sana'a: The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has condemned the US military's targeting of a migrant detention center in Yemen. The organization considers the attack a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, potentially amounting to a war crime.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Monitor has called for the establishment of an independent international commission of inquiry to document the violations, identify those responsible, and ensure accountability. It noted that the nature of the human losses and massive destruction reflects the United States' disregard for the principles of protecting civilians. The incident highlights the danger of impunity and the weakening of the international order.
The Monitor emphasized that migrants are entitled to rights guaranteed under international law, and that targeting them constitutes a clear violation of international agreements. It urged the United States to halt its illegal aggression against Yemen, fully comply with international humanitarian law, and cease its military and political support for Israel.
