Washington: Media reports on Wednesday indicated that the US national debt has surpassed a record high of $39 trillion for the first time. According to Yemen News Agency, the US sovereign debt first exceeded $38 trillion on October 21 of last year, four months and 25 days ago. The Treasury Department reported that the figure reached $38.992 trillion on March 16, according to Sputnik. The website usdebtclock.org, a well-known site that tracks US debt, reported on Wednesday that the debt has surpassed this new level and continues to rise, now reaching $39.003 trillion.
