Sana'a: On May 8, throughout various years, US-Saudi-Emirati coalition forces have repeatedly targeted civilians and infrastructure in Yemen, resulting in numerous casualties, including women and children. These attacks have caused significant destruction to homes, properties, and vital services, especially in areas such as Ad-Durayhimi in Hodeida Governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, on May 8, 2015, an airstrike by the coalition forces resulted in the death of 13 citizens and injured two others, predominantly affecting women and children in the Samna area of Bakil Al-Mir District in Hajjah Governorate. The aggression also inflicted damage on government buildings and civilian homes across multiple governorates, including Amran and Saada.
The following year, on May 8, 2016, saw the continuation of airstrikes in Sana'a Governorate, killing seven civilians and wounding 17 more. Aggression forces fired artillery and missiles on several districts, further intensifying conflict in regions like Marib and Shabwah.
In 2017, the coalition's air force launched numerous airstrikes in areas such as Mawza' District and Dhubab District, causing extensive damage. Similar attacks persisted in 2018, targeting homes, farms, and public infrastructure in Marib and Taiz governorates, among others.
By May 8, 2019, the impact of these aggressions led to the deaths of five women and an elderly man due to illness and starvation amidst a siege in Ad Durayhimi, Hodeida Governorate. Mortar shells and artillery fire continued to plague civilian areas, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
The violence extended into 2020, with incidents such as the killing of a child and his mother in Taiz Governorate, and relentless air raids in Marib Governorate. Saudi missile and artillery shelling also targeted homes and farms in Sa'dah Governorate.
On May 8, 2021, the aggression claimed more civilian lives, with Saudi artillery shelling killing a citizen in Saada Governorate. The coalition's forces maintained their aggressive stance, launching airstrikes and constructing combat fortifications in various governorates.
The pattern of aggression continued in 2022, with mercenaries shelling civilian areas and establishing fortifications in strategic locations across Hodeida and other governorates. These actions have consistently disrupted civilian life and infrastructure in the region.
Most recently, on May 8, 2023, reconnaissance aircraft conducted raids in Hodeida Governorate, with mercenaries establishing new combat positions and launching attacks using missiles and artillery. This ongoing aggression underscores the persistent conflict and instability inflicted upon Yemen.
