Sanaa: On this day in history, April 13, a series of airstrikes and artillery attacks by US-Saudi-Emirati forces have resulted in civilian casualties and significant infrastructure damage across various Yemeni governorates. The aggression has consistently targeted residential neighborhoods, service facilities, and essential infrastructure.
According to Yemen News Agency, on April 13, 2015, airstrikes carried out by the aggression led to the deaths of 14 citizens and injured four others, including women and children, in Ibb. The attacks destroyed a three-story house, several adjacent homes, and targeted the university, a sports stadium, and various other facilities. In Sahar District, Sa’ada Governorate, four citizens were injured following airstrikes on a residential area. The aggression also targeted the national electricity system in Sana’a and Marib, leading to widespread power outages.
In subsequent years, the aggression continued its operations, causing further harm to civilians and infrastructure. On April 13, 2016, airstrikes were reported on the Health Institute in Lahj Governorate. The following year, in 2017, a child was injured by a cluster bomb in Sa’ada, and several districts experienced missile and artillery attacks.
The pattern of destruction persisted, with airstrikes in 2018 targeting civilian homes, farms, and service facilities across multiple governorates, including Hodeida, Hajjah, and Shabwa. The attacks resulted in numerous casualties and significant damage to civilian properties.
In 2019, cluster bombs and mortar shells claimed the lives of children and civilians in Dhamar and Dhalea Governorates, while artillery shelling damaged educational institutions and residential areas in Hodeida. The aggression’s forces also targeted markets and infrastructure in Sa’ada and Sana’a.
The aggression continued in 2020, with airstrikes and artillery shelling affecting villages and districts in Hodeida, Baydha, and Marib. The attacks further disrupted the lives of civilians and exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
On April 13, 2021, and 2022, the aggression’s spy aircraft and mercenaries launched raids and artillery attacks in Hodeida, Jawf, and Baydha, resulting in further destruction and instability. In 2023, the aggression’s forces continued to fortify positions and bombard areas in Hodeida, causing widespread damage.
The ongoing aggression has left a trail of destruction and suffering for Yemeni civilians, with repeated attacks on infrastructure and essential services, further deepening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
