Sana’a: On this day, February 1, scores of civilians have been killed or injured by the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression in several Yemeni governorates over the years. These tragic events highlight the ongoing conflict and its severe impact on civilian lives and infrastructure in Yemen.
According to Yemen News Agency, on February 1, 2016, a missile attack by the Saudi army resulted in the death of a woman and her daughter while they were at a water well in the Al-Dhira’a district in the Maran area of the Haidan district in Sa’ada governorate. The air force conducted raids targeting citizens’ homes in the Sharawa area in the border district of Baqim, leading to further casualties and destruction.
In another incident, a citizen was injured due to an air raid near a school in the Bani Qais district in Hajjah governorate. This raid also damaged property and destroyed the Abu Dawar School in the Mustaba district. The enemy air force continued its assaults, causing significant damage to agricultural lands, sheep pastures, and residential neighborhoods in various areas.
On February 1, 2017, airstrikes claimed the lives of Mohammed Al-Hakami and three others, including two children, in the Bani Matar district in Sana’a governorate. In Hodeida governorate, multiple airstrikes targeted the Miami Tourist Resort, Hodeida airport, and various districts, causing extensive damage to homes and infrastructure.
The aggression continued with airstrikes in Haradh district in Hajjah governorate, Motoon district in Jawf governorate, and Mocha district in Taiz governorate. In Sa’ada governorate, raids and cluster bombs caused destruction and civilian casualties, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
By February 1, 2018, the aggression’s aircraft launched numerous raids on Al-Dailami Air Base, Hodeida governorate, and several districts in other governorates. The airstrikes led to the destruction of a poultry farm and targeted various civilian areas, further contributing to the devastation.
On February 1, 2019, artillery shelling by mercenaries injured two children and a man in Hodeida governorate. The aggression’s air force conducted raids in multiple governorates, damaging homes and targeting civilian areas with impunity. The conflict’s toll on civilians continued unabated, with significant loss of life and property.
The following year, on February 1, 2020, saw targeted raids in Al-Ghail district, Jawf governorate, and Sana’a governorate, among others. Mercenaries in Hodeida governorate targeted areas with heavy weapons, causing further damage to civilian infrastructure and homes.
On February 1, 2021, airstrikes targeted Sana’a International Airport and various districts, while spy aircraft conducted raids in Hodeida governorate. The conflict persisted, with ongoing attacks on civilian areas and infrastructure.
By February 1, 2022, the aggression’s air force launched multiple raids in the capital Sana’a and other governorates, causing damage to residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure. The enemy aircraft continued to target districts across Yemen, inflicting further harm on the population.
Most recently, on February 1, 2023, two citizens were martyred, and seven others, including an African immigrant, were injured by Saudi army fire in Sa’ada governorate. Spy aircraft and mercenaries continued their attacks, creating combat fortifications and shelling several areas in Hodeida governorate.
These events underscore the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Yemen, where civilian casualties and infrastructure damage continue to rise due to the persistent aggression by the US-Saudi-Emirati coalition.
