Sana’a: On this day, February 27, significant casualties and extensive property damage were reported as a result of airstrikes and artillery shelling by the US-Saudi-Emirati coalition across various Yemeni governorates. The attacks, which have been ongoing for several years, have targeted civilian areas, causing numerous deaths and injuries among citizens.
According to Yemen News Agency, on February 27, 2016, an airstrike by the coalition’s aircraft resulted in the deaths and injuries of 60 citizens at Khalaqa Market in the Nihm District of Sana’a Governorate. Further assaults included airstrikes on the Al-Majawaha area and the Haran area in Arhab District, leading to severe destruction of homes and property. Other areas affected included the Political Neighborhood in Al-Sabeen District and several locations in Amran, Ibb, and Al-Jawf Governorates, where airstrikes damaged infrastructure and destroyed agricultural facilities.
The following years saw continued aggression. On February 27, 2017, airstrikes targeted the Al-Makhdarah area in Sirwah District, Marib Governorate, and dropped cluster bombs elsewhere, exacerbating the damage. The attacks extended to Al-Ghail District in Al-Jawf Governorate and Taiz Governorate, among others, with significant damage to civilian infrastructure.
In 2018, violence persisted with airstrikes in Saada Governorate, injuring and killing civilians, including paramedics, and targeting agricultural and residential areas. The coalition’s aircraft also bombed homes in Sana’a and Al-Hodeida Governorates, resulting in the deaths of women and children.
The aggression continued in subsequent years, with 2019 witnessing airstrikes on civilian vehicles and property in Amran and Al-Hodeida Governorates, along with artillery shelling by mercenaries causing further casualties. In 2020, children were injured by artillery shells in Al-Hodeida, and airstrikes targeted Al-Jawf Governorate.
On February 27, 2021, mortar shelling by mercenaries in Taiz Governorate injured several citizens and led to the destruction of vehicles and homes. Airstrikes were also reported in Marib and Saada Governorates, adding to the toll on civilian lives and infrastructure.
The cycle of violence persisted in 2022, with Saudi missile and artillery shelling killing and injuring citizens in Saada Governorate, and airstrikes targeting multiple districts in Hajjah and Marib Governorates. The coalition’s mercenaries continued artillery shelling across Al-Hodeida Governorate.
Most recently, on February 27, 2023, reconnaissance aircraft launched several airstrikes on Hays District in Al-Hodeida Governorate. The mercenaries established combat fortifications and continued their artillery and firearms attacks, affecting numerous areas.
