Work Progress Inspected on Mahwit Road Project Linking Al-Maqtar and Al-Sha’im Villages

Mahwit:Field work is ongoing on a project to open and expand a 14-kilometer road connecting Al-Maqtar village to Al-Sha'im village in the Al-Tawilah district of Mahwit province. The initiative aims to improve access to dozens of villages in the Al-Gharbi and Al-Dhalaa Al-Asfal areas, with active community participation from residents.

According to Yemen News Agency, the project is supported by the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit at the Ministry of Local and Rural Administration and Development. Rashid Marwan, the district's director, along with other local officials, inspected the progress and discussed the challenges facing the project. Marwan commended the residents' contributions, emphasizing that the road's extension to Al-Sha'im would alleviate years of hardship caused by difficult terrain and poor access. The project is expected to facilitate travel, improve access to health and education services, and ease the transport of agricultural products.

A meeting with village elders and residents also discussed a community initiative to pave vulnerable sections with stones and cement and build drainage channels to protect the road. Participants explored ways to expand volunteer efforts and strengthen support for the Al-Tawilah Cooperative Association and its development projects.
