Sana'a: The Capital Secretariat, in collaboration with the General Authority of Zakat and in partnership with multiple ministries and organizations, hosted a workshop on Tuesday with the aim of promoting economic empowerment in the region. Operating under the theme "Sana'a, a Productive and Resilient City," the event sought to explore strategies for advancing the work of productive families and supporting them in producing competitive, high-quality goods.
According to Yemen News Agency, the workshop was conducted under the patronage of the National Committee for Economic Empowerment and addressed several critical themes and programs necessary to achieve empowerment objectives. The discussions centered on fostering self-sufficiency by enhancing the economic roles of productive families and transforming them into competitive units capable of rivaling imported products.
During the opening session, Mohammed Al-Nuaimi, a member of the Supreme Political Council, underscored the workshop's significance in developing action plans that empower productive families and enhance their economic contributions. He highlighted the role of cooperative associations in strengthening family capacities and facilitating market access for their products.
Mohammed Al-Madani, Deputy Prime Minister for Local Administration, Rural Development, and Minister of Rural Development, emphasized the responsibility of district directors in supporting productive families and economically empowering disadvantaged communities. He noted that the workshop's success hinges on financing, organization, and collaboration among development partners and institutions.
Dr. Hamoud Abad, Secretary-General of the Capital, stated that economic empowerment is essential for reducing import costs and improving the conditions of productive families. He mentioned that the Capital Secretariat would utilize its resources to support development and empowerment efforts.
Furthermore, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Kumaim, Ahmed Al-Kubsi, and Mohammed Al-Ayani stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure the success of empowerment programs. They highlighted the roles of local authorities and cooperative associations in translating policies into tangible societal benefits.
