Hajjah: The Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Vice Presidency, in coordination with the Faculty of Education and Human Sciences and the Quality Assurance and Academic Development Center at Hajjah University, organized a workshop to approve the PhD program in English Language within the Department of English.
According to Yemen News Agency, at the opening of the workshop, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Hamid, emphasized the importance of completing academic accreditation requirements for postgraduate programs. He noted that launching the PhD program in English represents a step toward strengthening scientific research, serving society, and meeting the needs of the academic and research labor market.
The Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Hamir Al-Awar, praised the efforts of the faculty dean's office and the program preparation committee. He stated that the program was designed in accordance with the standards of the Quality Assurance and Academic Development Center.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Gheili, the Dean of the Faculty of Education and Human Sciences, reviewed the readiness of the infrastructure and academic staff in the department. He confirmed that all requirements related to faculty members, curricula, and study plans have been met in line with postgraduate regulations.
Dr. Yahya Al-Alaii, the Dean of the Quality Assurance and Academic Development Center, stated that the center had reviewed the submitted documents and made the necessary observations to ensure compliance with academic standards. He stressed the importance of the English Department as a gateway to global knowledge and a bridge for scientific and international communication.
Dr. Naif Al-Ghuthaifi, the Head of the English Department, also confirmed the readiness of the department's learning environment and its preparedness to receive the first cohort of PhD students, while providing the necessary academic and administrative facilitation.
The workshop reviewed the program's study plans, objectives, learning outcomes, and evaluation mechanisms. These align with the needs of the academic and research labor market, contributing to preparing highly qualified specialists in English capable of contributing to and competing in scientific research and university teaching.
