Sana'a: The Secondary Education Sector of the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research in Sana'a recently organized a workshop titled "Developing Computer Curricula for Vocational Secondary Schools in Accordance with Modern Digital Skills." The event witnessed participation from academics, experts, and specialists in curriculum development.
According to Yemen News Agency, Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hatem Al-Du'ais, inaugurated the workshop by emphasizing the Ministry's dedication to updating secondary education curricula to align with ongoing scientific and technological changes. He highlighted the necessity of leveraging the academic expertise available at the Faculty of Computer Science at Sana'a University, aiming to align educational content with labor market demands and developmental goals.
Dr. Zaid Al-Hadour, Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Secondary Education Sector, addressed the importance of the workshop as part of the Ministry's initiatives to broaden vocational secondary education. He underscored the need for modern curricula that advance in tandem with technological progress and foster the digital and cognitive skills of students required by the labor market. Dr. Al-Hadour presented a paper focused on the fundamentals of developing computer curricula in vocational secondary education, detailing the study framework in vocational schools and the educational plan for computer science specializations.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Shalabi, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology at Sana'a University, shared insights from various international experiences in the field of computer curriculum development for vocational education. He stressed the importance of incorporating these global experiences to create curricula that respond to contemporary digital transformations.
Curriculum expert Eng. Osama Al-Nahmi introduced a practical model for a computer science curriculum unit. He explained the design mechanisms for educational units that integrate modern digital skills, aiming to enhance the practical components of the learning process.
The workshop also saw the presence of Dr. Munir Al-Qadi, Head of the Research and Innovation Authority, along with several specialists and interested stakeholders.
