Sana'a: A scientific workshop held in Sana'a today affirmed the importance of activating the research role of the Center for Educational Research and Development, and transforming the outcomes of the first National Education Forum into priorities and scientific studies that contribute to addressing educational challenges and supporting decision-making.
According to Yemen News Agency, the workshop, organized by the Center for Educational Research and Development under the supervision of the General Authority for Sciences, Research, Technology, and Innovation, discussed "The Research Role of the Center for Educational Research and Development in Developing Education in Light of the Outcomes of the First National Education Forum," which was held at the beginning of the current Hijri year.
Three research papers were presented during the workshop, addressing the center's role in developing education in light of the forum's outcomes, national educational research priorities, and research partnerships between the center and relevant authorities and stakeholders to support education in Yemen.
The Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Hassan Al-Sa'adi, emphasized the need to build on the workshop's outcomes and translate them into practical steps, pointing out the possibility of referring the research papers to the ministry's basic and secondary education sectors for study and determining what can be implemented.
He highlighted the importance of expanding partnership between the ministry, the center, universities, and relevant authorities, and benefiting from national expertise in developing education, praising the center's new initiative and affirming the importance of it playing a broader role in supporting the ministry with research, studies, and scientific expertise.
Al-Sa'adi pointed out that work on developing education and scientific research continues despite the conditions and challenges the country is facing, noting that building a renaissance requires serious work and integration between state institutions and society, and utilizing all available capabilities and expertise.
He praised the Center for Educational Research and Development's move under the umbrella of the General Authority for Sciences, Research, Technology, and Innovation, expressing his hope that the center would witness greater research work and a broader role in serving the ministry, and benefit from its specialized cadres and expertise.
The workshop was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Hatem Al-Da'ais, the Head of the General Authority for Sciences, Research, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Munir Al-Qadi, the Deputy Minister for Basic Education, Hadi Ammar, the Deputy Head of the Science Authority, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Houri, and the Deputy Head of the Authority for the Sciences and Research Sector, Dr. Nasser Al-Ma'afa. The Head of the Center for Educational Research and Development, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Masouri, explained that the workshop comes to activate the scientific and national responsibility of the center, and to transform the educational issues diagnosed during the first National Education Forum into research priorities, scientific studies, and applicable solutions.
He noted that the center aspires to play the role of a scientific knowledge hub for the ministry and the authority, a research reference on educational issues, and a bridge connecting scientific research with field needs and decision-making.
The workshop produced a number of recommendations aimed at activating the research role of the center, identifying national research priorities in the educational field, enhancing partnership between the center, the ministry, universities, and relevant authorities, and linking scientific research outputs with the needs of the educational field and decision-making.
