Yemen Scholars Association Rejects Saudi Council’s Allegations

Sana'a:The Yemen Scholars Association has voiced strong opposition to a statement made by the Saudi Council of Senior Scholars. The association accuses the Saudi council of spreading misinformation about Yemen, including allegations of targeting the holy cities of Mecca and Medina and labeling Yemen as a terrorist state, in line with rhetoric from Israeli and US entities.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Yemen Scholars Association condemned the Saudi council's call for Muslims to combat Yemen under the guise of defending Islamic holy sites. The association highlighted this position as a direct contradiction to the Al-Azhar Grand Imam's initiative to form a committee of respected figures from Arab and Islamic nations to resolve conflicts and promote Muslim unity—a proposal the association and the Sanaa government supported.

The statement from the Yemen Scholars Association urged the Saudi scholars to exercise caution and avoid disseminating false accusations that could incite Muslim conflict, which they argue serves Israeli interests. Furthermore, the association called for the Saudi regime to adopt good-neighborly relations, lift its blockade, cease aggression against Yemen, and stop financing internal divisions. They also criticized the exploitation of holy sites for political agendas that align with Zionist interests.

In their detailed statement, the Yemen Scholars Association questioned the Saudi council's silence on certain controversial actions by the Saudi regime concerning holy sites. They also challenged the Saudi council's stance on regional conflicts involving Zionist actions. The association called for unity among Muslims against the Israeli enemy, emphasizing that the true threat to holy sites comes from Zionist actions rather than Yemen.
