Sana'a: The Yemeni Basketball Federation announced today the schedule for the first round of the Men's Republic Cup. The opening stage of the competition will take place from September 1 to 7, with 16 teams competing across four groups hosted in Sana'a, Aden, Mukalla, and Seiyun. Two teams from each group will advance to the final stage, set to be held in Mukalla from September 13 to 20.
According to Yemen News Agency, the tournament's format will see the first round follow a knockout system in the Sana'a, Mukalla, and Seiyun groups. In Aden, the competition will be played over two phases - the first on a knockout basis to determine two qualifiers, who will then compete in a round-robin format in the second phase.
The Sana'a group includes Ahli Sana'a, Wahda Sana'a, Shaab Ibb, and May 22. The Aden group features Al-Tilal, Al-Mina, Al-Shoala, and Taliat Lahj. The Mukalla group includes Shaab Hadramout, Al-Tadamun, and Al-Mukalla. The Seiyun group will see Shibam, Seiyun, Wahdat Tareem, and Al-Barq competing.
