Sanaa: The Parliament of the Republic of Yemen has renewed its appeal to the heads of parliaments and legislative councils in several countries regarding the crimes committed by the Trump administration against the Yemeni people and their resources.
According to Yemen News Agency, the letters were addressed to the Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament, the Chairman of the Russian State Duma, the Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, and several other parliamentary leaders worldwide, informing them of the escalation of U.S. aggression against Yemen since mid-March. The letters highlighted the ongoing targeting of civilians, civilian properties, and infrastructure due to the U.S. actions, amid the escalation of violations of international and humanitarian law in the region.
The Yemeni Parliament emphasized that the U.S. aggression, led by the Trump administration, primarily targets civilians, including popular markets and residential areas, constituting crimes against humanity and violations of international laws and humanitarian norms. It also criticized the Trump administration's claims about securing international navigation in the Red Sea as misleading, aimed at justifying U.S. actions in Yemen.
The Parliament reiterated Yemen's commitment to maritime security in its territorial waters under international law, affirming that Yemeni waters remain safe for international navigation, with exceptions for ships heading to or from occupied Palestinian ports. The stance in support of the Palestinian cause is described as a legitimate response to Israeli actions, supported by the Trump administration, and a moral obligation to support the Palestinian people's struggle for freedom.
The Parliament held the Trump administration accountable for its actions in Yemen, demanding compensation for damages inflicted on civilians and properties. It called on international parliaments to support the Palestinian people by enforcing International Criminal Court decisions against those complicit in these crimes and highlighted the need for joint efforts to expose U.S. policies aimed at controlling nations' resources.
The letters urged unified parliamentary efforts to confront aggressions and violations, advocating strong positions that uphold Palestinian rights and support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. They praised the stances of some Arab, Islamic, and international parliaments in advocating for the Palestinian cause and supporting Yemen's solidarity with Gaza.
