Sana'a:A scientific seminar organized by the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, alongside the University Student Forum, was conducted via videoconferencing to commemorate the 12th anniversary of Yemen's September 21 Revolution. The seminar focused on the evolution and achievements of higher education in the country since the revolution.
According to Yemen News Agency, the seminar gathered ministry officials and public university presidents to discuss Yemeni higher education's state prior to the revolution and the subsequent transformations. Topics included university budgets, curriculum development, postgraduate study expansion, digital transformation, and aligning university outputs with labor market needs.
Hadi Ammar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, noted that significant strides have been made in higher education and research initiatives to support economic and social development post-revolution. He highlighted efforts to strengthen research centers and organize internal grants.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana'a University, detailed the university's progress despite financial challenges, including the expansion of master's and PhD programs from 15 to 236, and the establishment of new faculties. He emphasized the alignment of academic projects with industrial problem-solving and the creation of an industrial-technical incubator.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Arami of Al-Bayda University mentioned overcoming budgetary suspensions and increasing master's and doctoral programs. He called for the unification of higher education regulations and transforming seminars into actionable outcomes.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Ahdal from Hodeida University discussed the pre-revolution scholarship landscape and subsequent research support expansion, including incentive awards for research excellence and increased publications.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi of Dhamar University reported on implementing academic accreditation standards and strategic planning, with expansions in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence programs.
Dr. Mujahed Measar of 21 September University emphasized the university's growth and its role in producing healthcare professionals. He highlighted the pursuit of academic accreditation and expansion of scientific partnerships.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Dhalai of Amran University discussed the expansion of faculties and specializations, aligning research with societal needs, and supporting food security through agricultural programs.
Dr. Mohammed Humaid of Hajjah University reviewed the academic workforce's role in advancing education and implementing governance principles in higher education.
Dr. Fuad Hassan of Ibb University addressed budget challenges, automation advancements, and digital transformation efforts to enhance academic output.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Shalabi of Al-Mahwit University focused on modernizing curricula to match technological advancements and strengthening university partnerships with various sectors.
