Dhamar: The Yemeni Organization for Standards, Metrology, and Quality Control has initiated inspection campaigns focused on consumer health and safety in Dhamar and Al Bayda governorates.
According to Yemen News Agency, the organization released a statement indicating that a campaign was conducted in Dhamar governorate targeting markets and pharmacies. The primary objective was to ensure the safety of infant formula in light of official warnings concerning specific infant formula and follow-up milk products.
The organization collaborated with local authorities for these inspections, including the Economy and Health offices in Dhamar. The teams were tasked with tracing products under scrutiny, inspecting sales points, and monitoring a variety of infant formula products in the market. Their efforts included verifying compliance with safety requirements and educating traders and consumers on the risks associated with potentially hazardous products.
Additionally, the organization executed a field campaign in Al Bayda governorate. This initiative was carried out in partnership with local leadership, the Economy and Industry Office, and the Gas Company. The focus in Al Bayda was on calibrating and programming domestic gas pumps and pumping devices to meet standard specifications. The campaign also addressed the adjustment of scales and measures, aiming to strengthen oversight of measuring instruments and compliance with approved standards.
Engineer Abdul Basit Al-Jarmouzi, Director of the Standards Organization branch in Dhamar, highlighted that these campaigns align with the organization's strategic plan to enhance technical control over goods and services. The initiatives are designed to bolster consumer protection and ensure equitable commercial transactions. Al-Jarmouzi urged citizens to report any suspected non-compliant products through the toll-free number (8001222).
