Yemeni Weightlifting Team Competes in Arab Championships in Doha

Doha: The Yemeni national weightlifting team is participating in the Arab Weightlifting Championship, Qatar Cup, and West Asia Championship, scheduled to take place in Doha from December 19 to 27, 2025. The event marks a significant engagement for the team on the regional sporting stage.

According to Yemen News Agency, Abdulkhaliq al-Khamisi, the head of the delegation and Secretary-General of the Weightlifting Federation, emphasized that the team's participation underscores the federation's dedication to maintaining an active presence in Arab and regional competitions. The federation aims to provide its athletes with valuable opportunities for gaining experience and improving their technical skills, despite facing challenging circumstances.

Al-Khamisi expressed appreciation for the contributions of Dr. Abdullah al-Jarmal, President of the General Weightlifting Federation and Vice President of the Asian and Arab federations, who played a crucial role in facilitating the team's involvement in the championship.

The team has arrived in Doha, led by al-Khamisi. Accompanying him are head coach Mazen Salem, team administrator Fawaz al-Maqbali, and a group of nine athletes. The championship competitions are being officiated by international referees Muneer al-Din Ahmed and Firas Zaid.
