Yemen’s Attorney General Conducts Inspection of Al-Thawra Pretrial Detention Facility

Sana'a: Yemen's Attorney General, Judge Abdul Salam Al-Houthi, inspected the Al-Thawra Pretrial Detention Facility in Sana'a on Tuesday. This inspection is part of ongoing efforts to review cases for the release of eligible inmates in celebration of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday, Mawlid al Nabawi.

According to Yemen News Agency, during his visit, Judge Al-Houthi was briefed on cases pending within the facility, as well as the status of detainees and those serving sentences for serious crimes. The attorney general engaged directly with inmates to discuss the duration of their detentions and their aspirations for reintegration into society.

Following his discussions, Judge Al-Houthi ordered the release of several inmates who had completed most of their sentences. This decision included granting pardons for the remaining terms, aligning with directives for the Mawlid occasion. He emphasized that the visit underscored the Public Prosecution's supervisory role in ensuring the proper implementation of legal procedures and the protection of prisoners' rights in accordance with the law.
