Hodeida: The General Authority for Zakat launched on Thursday in Hodeida province, the distribution of vocational bags and the start of the vocational integration process, within the economic empowerment programs and projects, for 438 beneficiaries from various directorates, at a cost of 225 million riyals, under the title “A hand that builds and a hand that protects”.
According to Yemen News Agency, this project is part of a series of initiatives aimed at transforming zakat recipients from consumers to producers by providing them with the necessary support to practice professions that generate sustainable income. This contributes to improving their living conditions and strengthening the local economy.
At the event, First Deputy Prime Minister Allama Mohammed Muftah highlighted that the economic empowerment projects implemented by the General Authority for Zakat reflect the developmental and social dimension of Zakat, which extends beyond providing aid to include capacity building, rehabilitation, and economic empowerment of youth.
He congratulated the graduates on receiving the professional equipment that enables them to start their working lives, stressing the importance of utilizing this opportunity and maximizing the support provided to ensure success and economic stability.
Allamah Muftah noted that the economic empowerment project implemented by the Zakat Authority reflects a strategic vision aimed at building a productive and economically independent society. He emphasized that supporting youth with professional skills and equipment is an investment in the country’s future.
The First Deputy Prime Minister also stressed the importance of continued support and follow-up for the beneficiaries to ensure their success in the labor market and achieve maximum benefit from these development initiatives.
At the event, attended by Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohammed Qahim and the governors of Al-Hodeida, Abdullah Atifi, and Al-Bayda, Abdullah Idris, the head of the General Authority for Zakat, Sheikh Shamsan Abu Nashtan, explained that the economic empowerment projects in Al-Hodeida province are divided into three main areas that contribute to achieving self-sufficiency and turning beneficiaries into active producers in society.
The first deputy governor of Hodeida province, Ahmed Al-Bishri, praised the efforts exerted by the Zakat Commission in supporting youth and preparing them for the labor market, indicating that this day represents a significant step towards building a national economy based on production.
Sheikh Mohammed Marei, president of Dar Al Uloom Sharia University, described the economic empowerment project as “a great blessing that deserves thanks and appreciation,” emphasizing that zakat plays a crucial role in achieving social solidarity and promoting community development.
The director of the General Authority for Zakat office in Hodeida, Mohammed Hazaa, explained that the distribution of vocational bags included 246 beneficiaries, while the number of beneficiaries of vocational integration into the labor market reached 192 beneficiaries from various directorates.
Hazaa urged the beneficiaries to preserve the tools they received, as it is the main means for them to achieve a sustainable income and improve their standard of living.
The graduates’ speech, delivered by Sultan Hadi, emphasized that this project contributes to leveraging human and material resources to serve people and society, achieve economic advancement, and transform challenges into real development opportunities.
