Sana'a: The Chief of the North Capital Prosecution, Judge Abu Mansour, ordered the release of 16 prisoners on Sunday following an inspection of the Central Correctional Facility. The move comes as part of a humanitarian initiative for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, following directives from senior leadership to review prisoner cases and legal procedures.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Chief Prosecutor met with inmates to verify the legality of their detention and match prosecution records with facility data. The 16 individuals were granted freedom as part of a commitment to justice and mercy during the religious season.
Judge Abu Mansour specifically reviewed the status of insolvent prisoners-those who remain jailed solely due to unpaid private debts. He urged businessmen and philanthropists to assist in paying off the debts of insolvent inmates, offering full cooperation from the prosecution to facilitate their release.
