Sana'a: The Parliament Speaker, Yahya Ali Al-Ra'i, held a meeting with Acting Prime Minister Allama Mohammed Muftah to discuss recent developments at various levels. The session included the participation of Deputy Speaker Abdulrahman Al-Jama'i, Members of Parliament Mohammed Al-Bakri and Mohammed Suwar, Sana'a Mayor Dr. Hamoud Ubad, Secretary-General of the House Abdullah Al-Qasimi, and Assistant Secretary-General Abdulrahman Al-Mansour.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Speaker emphasized the necessity of coordination between legislative and executive branches to address issues such as smuggling and stranded vehicles at border crossings. He urged the government to adhere to the agreed mechanisms for collecting taxes on imported goods, as finalized in an agreement dated 21 July 2025.
The Speaker also highlighted the importance of the government's adherence to the recommendations related to its program. He stressed that employees should not be referred to retirement without receiving their entitlements and called for increased awareness to counter plans targeting Yemen.
During the meeting, the Acting Prime Minister briefed on the government's efforts to implement its program, including ministry mergers and industry localization. Achievements in providing essential goods and implementing an alternative energy strategy were also discussed, alongside agricultural initiatives aimed at self-sufficiency.
The session addressed law amendments necessary for the current phase and strategies to counter aggression and blockades. The Speaker affirmed Yemen's readiness to confront challenges and urged continued efforts to thwart external threats targeting the nation's unity and stability.
