Acting minister of economy: During the visit, Al-Bashiri reviewed laboratory performance and testing procedures used to verify the compliance of products and goods with approved standards, as well as the services provided in this field.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Bashiri discussed with the organization's Executive Director Abdullah Al-Atifi the introduction of new equipment, additional health- and safety-related tests, along with work at recently launched laboratories. The two officials also reviewed key challenges and requirements for improving laboratory performance, strengthening the organization's testing, monitoring, and quality-control capabilities.
Al-Bashiri stressed the need to enhance accuracy and reliability in testing, ensure compliance with approved standards, and take legal action against non-compliant products to protect consumers and market safety. He also called for continued development of the laboratories' technical and equipment capabilities to enable the organization to effectively fulfill its regulatory role and help protect consumer health and safety while improving confidence in products in the local market.
