Airstrikes and Shelling Mark September 23 As a Day of Conflict in Yemen

Sanaa:On September 23 over the years, Yemen has witnessed significant conflict-related incidents, with airstrikes and shelling causing widespread destruction and loss of life.

According to Yemen News Agency, on September 23, 2015, airstrikes by US-Saudi-Emirati forces targeted several locations, including a ceramic factory and a hospital in Sana'a Governorate. These strikes resulted in casualties and infrastructure damage. In Bani Hashish District, airstrikes claimed the lives of a father and his two sons, while their family members were injured.

Further incidents included the bombing of Sharas Bridge, affecting the Hajjah and Amran governorates, and multiple airstrikes in Taiz, Al-Jawf, Marib, and Saada governorates, leading to fatalities and destruction of property. Notably, internationally prohibited phosphorous bombs were reportedly used in Mawza District in Taiz Governorate.

The aggression continued in subsequent years, with 2016 seeing airstrikes across various districts resulting in civilian deaths and damage to agricultural lands. September 23, 2017, marked airstrikes on a mosque in Al-Hodeida Governorate, and multiple strikes in Hajjah Governorate.

In 2019, a devastating airstrike in Amran Governorate killed seven members of one family, including children. The pattern of conflict persisted in the ensuing years, with airstrikes and artillery shelling reported across multiple governorates, inflicting further casualties and property damage.

By September 23, 2023, reconnaissance aircraft were still conducting airstrikes, and mercenaries continued combat operations, including artillery shelling in various districts, perpetuating the cycle of violence in Yemen.
