Kharif: Al-Bayda The Governor of Al-Bayda, Abdullah Idris, inaugurated the Potato Seed Propagation Center, affiliated with the Mukairas Agricultural Cooperative Association, costing 35 million riyals and funded by the local authority.
According to Yemen News Agency, the inauguration was attended by several key figures, including member of the Presidential Committee for Mobilization, Dr. Qasim Al-Hamran, Deputy Governors of Al-Bayda Saleh Al-Mansouri and Zain Al-Riyami, and Deputy Governor of Dhamar for Development Affairs Ali Atif. Major General Ali Dubeish, the Assistant Deputy Minister of Interior for Security and Police Affairs, also attended the event. Governor Idris emphasized the project's significance in expanding potato seed production and enhancing the association's productive capacity.
Governor Idris highlighted the importance of maintaining the achievements in local seed production and the goal of exporting surplus production. He praised the General Corporation for Potato Seed Production for its efforts in addressing seed importation challenges. Despite challenges from aggression and siege, the governor described the center's inauguration as an exceptional step and reiterated the commitment of the governorate's leadership to support cooperative associations across districts.
The event also saw the presence of Major General Saleh Hajeb, Deputy Chief of the General Staff for Development Affairs, Brigadier General Hanin Dreib, Assistant Commander of the Seventh Military Region, and Engineer Hamdan Al-Akwa', Executive Director of the General Corporation for Potato Seed Production. Yasser Jahlan, Director of Mukairas District, explained that the center's inauguration is part of broader efforts to expand agricultural production and advance propagation and seed storage operations. He stressed the importance of enhancing the capacities of farmers within agricultural cooperative associations to eventually export surplus production.
