Al-hodeidah: Governor of Al-Hodeidah, Abdullah Atefi, and Acting Head of the Tax and Customs Authority, Dr. Ibrahim Mahdi, have officially inaugurated a newly constructed tax complex in the governorate. This new facility is designed to serve the Qat Sales Tax and Large Taxpayers Units.
According to Yemen News Agency, the complex was constructed by the Executive Unit for Projects and Maintenance at a cost of 371 million Yemeni riyals, with funding provided by the Authority. The building comprises two floors and includes several specialized departments, a meeting hall, and other administrative and service facilities, all aimed at ensuring a conducive work environment for both staff and taxpayers.
Following the inauguration, Atefi and Mahdi, along with the Governorate's Deputy for Services Affairs, Muhammad Hlaisi, Deputy for Culture and Media, Ali Qashr, and the Authority's Deputy, Fahd Dahmash, toured the facility. They examined its offices, departments, and facilities, and reviewed the workflow of the Qat Sales Tax and Large Taxpayers Units. Briefings were provided by Ali Sharaf al-Din and Muhammad Al-Mansour, directors of the Executive Units for Qat Sales Tax and Large Taxpayers, respectively, on the complex's role in organizing tax operations and streamlining procedures.
Additional insights were provided by Zaid Al-Murtada, Director of the Executive Unit for Projects and Maintenance, who presented on the building's design and its capacity to accommodate future developments in tax unit operations. The design includes ample space and systems to improve transaction efficiency and prepare for automated systems and information exchanges.
Governor Atefi commended the establishment of the tax complex as a significant addition to the governorate's institutional framework and a step toward advancing work methods in the financial and tax sectors. He emphasized the local authority's commitment to development projects, highlighting the importance of tax revenues in funding these initiatives. Atefi also noted that the complex will address operational challenges by unifying service windows and improving transparency and service delivery.
Dr. Mahdi, Acting Head of the Tax and Customs Authority, expressed that the inauguration is part of broader plans to develop and modernize institutional structures across governorates. He emphasized the Authority's dedication to enhancing service quality for taxpayers and its commitment to investing resources in institutional readiness. Mahdi also noted the importance of electronic connectivity and supervision in tax operations, and outlined ongoing efforts to modernize and expand digital systems.
