Sana'a: The First Undersecretary of the Capital Secretariat, Khaled Al-Madani, and the Chairman of the General Authority for Small and Micro Enterprise Development, Dr. Ahmed Al-Kabsi, have inaugurated the Sanad Leather Products Factory in the Wadi Ahmed neighborhood of the Bani Al-Harith District. The factory, which was established at a cost of 12 million and 500 thousand riyals, received funding from the General Authority for Zakat's branch in the Capital Secretariat.
According to Yemen News Agency, the opening ceremony was attended by several officials, including the Undersecretary of the General Authority for Zakat for the Banking Sector, Muhammad Al-Ayani, and other key figures from various governmental departments. They were briefed on the factory's operations, which involve cutting, collecting, and sewing leather products, and were informed about the job opportunities and contracts established with official bodies to market the products.
Al-Madani commended the collaborative efforts of the Small and Micro Enterprise Development Authority, the Zakat Authority, and local authorities in launching the factory. He emphasized the importance of such projects in generating employment, improving living standards, and promoting local products, which could lead to a reduction in imports and help achieve self-sufficiency.
Muhammad Al-Ayani highlighted the factory's role in supporting productive families and fostering a local leather industry. He noted the initiative follows directives from the leader of the revolution, Mr. Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, to support local production and reduce dependency on imports. He encouraged wholesalers to engage with local factories to bolster the national industry.
Sharaf Al-Din, Director of the Finance Unit, expressed support for projects promoted by the Small and Micro Enterprise Development Authority that focus on economic empowerment. He noted that training activities for female workers in the leather industry had been funded, resulting in high-quality products from the factory.
Hamad bin Rakan, Director of Bani Al-Harith District, praised the governmental efforts in financing and opening the factory, which is expected to positively affect the economic conditions of impoverished families in the area. He called for expanded efforts to include more neighborhoods in empowerment projects.
Ayman Al-Kabsi, Director of Relations at the Public Authority for Small and Micro Enterprise Development, affirmed the strategic choice of the Wadi Ahmed neighborhood for the factory's location. He noted that twenty poor families were selected to benefit from the factory's profits, with the project cost provided as a long-term loan to be repaid gradually.
