Sana'a: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Administration and Local and Rural Development Mohammed al-Madani visited the Ministry of Information headquarters to review its performance and discuss the media's role in local development. During his meeting with Minister of Information Hashem Sharaf al-Din and other officials, al-Madani highlighted the significance of both governmental and private media in fostering community awareness and supporting development efforts, particularly in rural areas.
According to Yemen News Agency, al-Madani emphasized the government's commitment to achieving economic and social change, focusing on food security and self-sufficiency. He pointed out that Yemen currently spends approximately five billion dollars annually on food imports. To address this, the Government of Change and Construction is actively working on 44 plant and animal production chains, aiming to repatriate these costs and create a qualitative shift in the economic sector.
Minister Sharaf al-Din affirmed the media's essential role in the development process, emphasizing its importance in raising awareness and disseminating modern methods in agriculture, fisheries, and other production areas. He stressed the government's goal to transform society into an organized participant in the production process, which would help reduce costs and maximize positive domestic and export impacts.
Furthermore, Sharaf al-Din proposed holding a specialized workshop to align media institutions with these governmental directives, ensuring that media efforts are synchronized with the nation's development goals.
