Al-mahwit: A meeting held in Al-Mahwit Governorate on Saturday, chaired by the Secretary-General of the Local Council, Dr. Ali Al-Zaykam, focused on identifying and preparing the governorate's industrial zone.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by Deputy Governor Hamoud Shamlan, Director of the Office of Economy, Industry and Investment Mohammed Al-Nuzaili, and Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Adel Al-Aqabi. It involved reviewing several proposals and visions regarding the most suitable location for establishing the industrial zone.
The discussions highlighted the importance of selecting a site that meets the basic requirements for industrial projects. This initiative aims to create an attractive investment environment, encouraging businessmen and investors to establish industrial and service projects. Such developments are expected to stimulate economic activity and achieve sustainable local development in the governorate.
A significant outcome of the meeting was the approval to form a committee from the concerned authorities. This committee is tasked with conducting a field visit to the proposed site to carry out technical studies and prepare the general plan for the industrial zone. Additionally, they will develop plans to equip the necessary infrastructure and basic services, including road construction and the provision of electricity, water, and sanitation services, to ensure the project's success and attract industrial investments.
Dr. Al-Zaykam emphasized the importance of integrating efforts among the various relevant official bodies to implement this vital project. He stressed the need to expedite the completion of the technical and administrative procedures to ensure the project aligns with a development vision that serves the people of the governorate.
Participants in the meeting noted that establishing an industrial zone in Al-Mahwit Governorate represents a crucial step toward expanding the local production base. It is anticipated to create job opportunities for youth, encourage small and medium-sized industries, and strengthen the path of economic and social development in the governorate.
