Hodeida: Al-Masirah Academy team won the opening cup of the Prophet's Birthday Football Tournament, organized by the Shabab Tihama Club in coordination with the Youth and Sports Office in Al-Huk District, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the local authority and general mobilization forces in Hodeida Governorate. The academy secured the opening cup in the tournament, which features more than 32 teams competing in a knockout format, after defeating the Shabab Tihama team 3-1 in a match held at the Al-Matarhi neighborhood stadium in the Al-Rabsa area of Al-Huk District.
According to Yemen News Agency, the tournament is part of the sports activities organized by the Shabab Tihama Club to commemorate the Prophet's birthday. The club, which recently received provisional recognition from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, is marking the occasion by organizing three sports tournaments targeting different age groups (adults, youth, and juniors).
The club's administration explained that the activities are witnessing broad participation from sports teams across various categories, totaling approximately 64 teams, which contributes to revitalizing the sports movement and discovering talent.
It praised the support of the Youth and Sports Office in the governorate and its branch in the Al-Hawak Directorate for the sports community, and for facilitating the success of tournaments and sports activities in the governorate's various directorates.
